Despite the construction, there was a good showing last Saturday. Fuzzymoto was happy to see a lot of familiar faces groovin' and getting cross-eyed. Con Job and Good Fortune Band did a great job of setting the mood for the night. Fuzzymoto wants to throw a huge thanks out to those guys and everyone that made a showing. You guys made the night. Fuzzymoto would also like to thank Kyle and the crew at Rain for inviting us to play.
11.01.04 - Fuzzymoto plays as The Meters as a Musical Costume at the Halloween Ho-Down
Fuzzymoto debuted their Musical Costume at the Gypsy Lounge last Saturday. Donning afro-wigs they came out and played a set of Meter's favorites. Starting off with the funky instrumental "Cissy Strut" which smoothly and seamlessly segued into "Soul Island", they opened the set with an eleven minute groover. You can check out the entire setlist to see everything else they played. Fuzzymoto had a great time, and would like to thank Mike, and the crew at The Gypsy Lounge for the warm welcome and the great sound. Thanks to everyone that came out.
Fuzzymoto will debut a "musical costume" format at The Gypsy Lounge - October 30th.
A costume for the earhole! Halloween is often celebrated by wearing a costume and momentarily assuming a new identity. A musical costume is the same in philosophy except it's celebrated in the precinct of sound. The best known instance of a musical costume was performed by Phish, when they performed the The Beatles' "White Album" in its entirety note for note. Phish went on to perform three more musical costumes on Halloween dates, making a Halloween Phish show one of the fastest shows to sell out in musical history. After "The White Album" they performed The Talking Heads "Remains in Light" album, The Who "Quadraphenia", and The Velvet Underground's "Loaded" album. Since its inception many other bands have adopted the musical costume. Even local bands have adopted the idea. Cubensis, the premiere Grateful Dead cover band based out of Los Angeles, has in the past performed as Santana and The Steve Miller Band.
So it's a mixed bag folks. You never know what you get. Fuzzymoto is proud to participate in the long standing tradition of a musical costume. This Halloween, Fuzzymoto will be performing at The Gypsy Lounge in Lake Forest. By the way, an interesting aside, The Gypsy Lounge is located in the same strip mall as the reknowned Captain Cream's gentleman's club. The fun starts at 9:00 PM. There is an $8 cover at the door. 21 and older only (just in case we get some x-rated costumes).
